Sustainability in logistics with solar energy
In recent years, we have completed more than 2500 projects for customers from trade, industry and logistics worldwide — from analysis and planning to installation and operation. Our complete solutions cover the entire spectrum of commercial PV systems: from small systems with an output of 100 kWp to large projects with an output of 8 MWp for roof systems and open-space systems in the multi-megwatt range.
Challenge
The extensive logistics center was a new construction project that placed particular demands on us. From the start, we had to integrate ourselves into the entire construction process. No problem, the seamless integration of our solutions into ongoing operations — or even the construction process — is our specialty. The special feature: At that time, the logistics property was the first in Germany to be built using the cradle-to-cradle principle, which ensures sustainable and environmentally friendly construction.
One of the biggest challenges was installing the photovoltaic system on the almost 27,000 square meter roof and the 30-meter high part of the building. That is why we use special safety and mounting solutions to mount the 8,264 PV modules in a storm-proof manner.
Solution
In order to guarantee a smooth process throughout the construction process, planning was an important part of our tailor-made complete solution. With this implementation, the entire site will be optimally supplied with energy. In addition to the comprehensive PV roof system, which is partly combined with a green roof, we have also installed a battery storage system to store excess solar energy and retrieve it when needed. In this way, in addition to sustainability in logistics, we can also ensure continuous energy supply. So that the location achieves its sustainability goal of becoming climate-neutral by 2050.
Thanks to the seamless installation of our complete solution, the logistics center is already not only benefiting from green electricity from its own roof, but will also achieve significant savings in energy costs and thus achieve sustainability goals.
